Our History

The origins of "Footprints Walking Club" can be traced back to the Summer of 1987 when a group of walkers met on a Countrywide Holidays Association (CHA) Under-35's holiday in the Lake District and decided to organise a "reunion" weekend. This led to more weekends being arranged and gradually programmes of day walks as well.

The Club is nationally based with the average age of members being between late-20's and 40's but there is no upper age limit with attitude being more important than physical age! New members are always welcome so please feel free to introduce friends & new walkers you meet on holiday to our events.

New members are always welcome. The annual subscription of £10 covers the cost of running the club and the production of the newsletter, third-party insurance cover for all local & national walking and social events - there are no extra charges for "local" day walks. The club is entirely non-profit making and all events are arranged by club members on a volunteer basis.

We always welcome ideas, suggestions and offers of help! So if you would like to lead a local walk or event, help with a weekend, publicise our events or would just like to see more walks & events in your area - let us know!

Whether you walk regularly at the moment or are a bit of a novice to walking or just want to meet some new companions to walk with, we think you will find us a friendly and welcoming club.
