Edale North
It was a popular walk and the weather was good for us, overcast and warm at ground level – and on the tops, blowy and chill in the stiff breeze.
We set off from the car park in Edale – though the cannier ones had parked up the road at the free car park.
From the car park we walked up through the village, past the pub and up the valley, turning then sharp right up the hill to a scatter of rocks called Ringing Roger.
We stopped here for elevenses to admire the view – lovely over the valley below.
From here we circled round along the edge of the escarpment, following the path round until we stopped for lunch in a gulley with a stream trickling down it, sheltering out of the wind.
I wondered if it was going to rain about here, but apart from a bit of moisture in the air it never happened.
After, we walked the familiar path across the moor then circling left, round and down Jacobs ladder to the valley below and the still air and the warmth.
We stopped at Bamber Booth, at the farm for tea and cake, watching the sparrows take dust baths in the yard.
From there we split into two groups – those who had parked nearby and the rest of us who had parked in Edale, walked across the fields and down into Edale.
Thanks to Paul for a great walk.
