Footprints Privacy Statement
Footprints respects your right to privacy. This statement describes the privacy practices for the Footprints website and the use we make of information collected from the site.
What information do we collect?
The Footprints website collects such information as the IP address (location of your computer on the Internet) and what pages were accessed. Monitoring traffic helps Footprints determine the activity on our website and which pages are most popular, and allows us to develop and improve our services online and also check for abuse or 'hacking' attempts. None of the data collected contains personal information. Logs are automatically deleted after six weeks.
The website uses 'cookies' for the following purposes:
- In the Members Area, to keep you logged in. This cookie is deleted when you close your browser.
Our site has a form allowing you to contact us to request more information about the club. To help us to answer your question we ask you to supply information such as your name, email address and postal address. You are under no obligation to provide such information. However, if you should choose to withhold it we may not be able to contact you to provide answers to your enquiry.
Footprints is an unincorporated club, and holds and processes personal information only for the purposes specified in Schedule 5 to the Data Protection (Notification & Notification Fees) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000 no 188). It is therefore exempt from the need to register under the Data Protection Act. Nevertheless, the club is required by law to comply with the Information Assurance requirements of the Act.
We do not share any information collected through this site.
From time to time the website uses a service called Google Analytics to check how visitors are using the site and to make it easier for them to find us. Google Analytics is widely used by commercial sites. Google assert that they do not collect personal information from sites using the service; Footprints has not independently checked this claim.
You may choose to block Google Analytics if you do not want to have your use of this site (and other sites) tracked, your view of the website will not be affected. The procedure for blocking Google Analytics depends on which web browser you use; instructions can readily be found online.
Information to and from the Footprints website is encrypted in transit and cannot be intercepted by any third party - your browser will display a 'padlock' symbol on the URL bar to show that this is the case.
