Southern Area Walks

From the South Coast, North and South Downs to the Chilterns and all points in between, we have a selection of walks to suit all abilities. You’ll find details of the future walking programme on this page as well as a link to the last 12 months' programme so you can see what you've missed!

Non-members are welcome to ’try us out’ on a couple of day walks before deciding to join, but we ask you to check with the leader first. Click on the leader’s name to send an email. Where no email address is given use the contact form and we will put you in touch.

Where a walk involves public transport it is advisable to check the train or bus times beforehand. A packed lunch will be needed unless stated otherwise, although we try to finish most walks with a tea shop / pub stop.

Saturday 10 MarchBRIGHTON TO LEWES, EAST SUSSEXLeader: Graham
A 10 mile linear walk from Brighton to Lewes via Woodingdean and Kingston. Packed lunch / possible pub drink. Maybe pre-walk coffee at cafe in Brighton.
Meet 10.45 Brighton Station outside WH Smith (inside station). Regular trains from several London terminals, including 09.42 from London Bridge, arrive 10.42. Return from Lewes Station.
Saturday 17 MarchWADHURST, EAST SUSSEXLeader: Chris
An 11 mile circular walk through the High Weald, an area of outstanding natural beauty. We will stop for pub lunch at Mayfield, which has a 15th century church. There will be a tea stop at the end.
Meet 10.50 Wadhurst Station (09.45 from Charing Cross, arrive 10.47).

A 10 mile circular walk in the North Downs. Pub lunch.
Meet 10.50 Guildford Station (10.15 from London Waterloo, arrive 10.50).
Saturday 7 AprilSEVENOAKS, KENTLeader: Mike B.
A 10 mile circular walk in the North Downs. Pub lunch.
Meet 10.50 Sevenoaks Station (10.15 from Charing Cross, arrive 10.49).
An 11½ mile circular walk through the High Weald. Pub lunch. The highlight of this walk is arriving at Bodiam Castle for tea.
Meet 10.35 Robertsbridge Station (09.15 from Charing Cross, arrive 10.34).

A 10 mile linear walk from Micheldever Station to Kings Worthy via the great Bluebell display in Micheldever Wood. Pub lunch at The Half Moon & Spread Eagle in Micheldever village. Afternoon tea at the leader’s home in Kings Worthy. Optional 3 mile extension from Kings Worthy to Winchester or catch the bus.
Meet 11.10 Micheldever Station (10.09 from London Waterloo, arrive Micheldever 11.10). Return from Winchester Station.
