Southern Area Walks
From the South Coast, North and South Downs to the Chilterns and all points in between, we have a selection of walks to suit all abilities. You’ll find details of the future walking programme on this page as well as a link to the last 12 months' programme so you can see what you've missed!
Non-members are welcome to ’try us out’ on a couple of day walks before deciding to join, but we ask you to check with the leader first. Click on the leader’s name to send an email. Where no email address is given use the contact form and we will put you in touch.

Where a walk involves public transport it is advisable to check the train or bus times beforehand. Where a pub lunch is offered, please let the leader know by the Wednesday before the walk so that a table can be booked.
Current Southern Walks Programme
Walk leaders must carry out a written risk assessment and return it to the Secretary. This is required as part of the conditions of our insurance. The risk assessment form can be found here (PDF) or here (MS Office).

Meet 10.30 Alresford Station (Watercress Line). Perins car park £1.50 all day, then 2 minute walk to the station – see Google Maps link. Note: The Station car park is now short stay only except for rail users.

|An 11 mile circular walk in the Chilterns from Saunderton. Pub lunch at The Lions, Bledlow. Optional tea/pub stop at end of walk.|

|A 13 mile linear walk from Birchington to Whitstable following the Thanet Coastal Path and Saxon Shore Way, passing Reculver Towers and Roman Fort. Packed lunch.|
Meet 11.20 Birchington-on-Sea Station (09.40 from London Victoria, arrive 11.16, or 09.25 from London St. Pancras, arrive 10.54). Return from Whitstable Station.

|Date changed due to rail strike. A 13 mile circular walk from Didcot via Castle Hill to Dorchester for pub lunch at the Fleur de Lys. Return via the Thames Path and Long Wittenham.|

|New walk. New Walk A 9 mile circular walk from Wendover Station via Dunsmore, pub at Lower Cadsden, Ellesborough, Coombe Hill and Bacombe Hill. Possible café or pub at end. Please contact leader by the Wednesday morning if you would like lunch at the pub.|
